Frank Lombardo, Chairman

Frank has been a resident of the North Greece Fire District for twenty-eight years. He has been married for forty-three years to his wife Linda. They have raised three sons and have four beautiful granddaughters. Frank is a Navy veteran and retired from Valeo.

Frank is currently an active member with the North Greece Fire District as a Commissioner and as a Lieutenant on the Fire Police Squad. He also has served on numerous committees and is a member of various fire organizations, including North Greece Exempts, Monroe County Fire District Officers Association, New York State Fire Police Association, Monroe County Fire Police Association and Battalion II Fire Police Association. Frank has been in the fire service since the 1960′s. He was a member of the City of Rochester Protectives, Ridge Culver Fire Department and presently with North Greece as a Fire Commissioner. His responsibilities as Commissioner include district budget, fire inspections, fire prevention, service awards, grants, EMS supplies, training and travel.


Sherman Manchester, Commissioner

Commissioner Manchester grew up in a family of volunteers.Sherman’s father was a volunteer with North Greece Fire Department, and his mother was a volunteer with Greece Volunteer Ambulance. Therefore, when it came time to choose a career path, the fire service was his choice. Sherman joined the North Greece Fire Department shortly after his 18th birthday but took a leave of absence from the department to attend Oklahoma State University. He received an Associate’s Degree in Fire Protection in 1968 , and a Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Education in 1970 from OSU . After college, he was hired by Eastman Kodak Company as a fire fighter; however shortly after starting at Kodak he was drafted into the Army. When he returned from the service, he once again became an active member of the North Greece Fire Department. He, also started attending college at night school on the GI Bill and received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from RIT in 1984.

Sherman and his wife, Mary Jane, have eight children and three grandchildren. At Kodak, Sherman rose through the ranks to Fire Chief, which he held for fifteen-and-a-half years. Currently, he is the Safety Coordinator for Ontario County. For more than 40 years, Sherman has been part of the North Greece Fire Department; and, was Chief from 1983-1985. He is still an active firefighter and safety officer. Commissioner Manchester was elected to the board for the five-year term from 2005-2009. The commissioner states “that his goal is to be fair. His mission for the Department is to provide the best service.”

Ken Preston, Commissioner

Ken has lived in the Town of Greece his entire life. He grew up on the family farm on Long Pond Road, graduated from Greece Olympia High School and attended College at RIT. Ken and his wife Donna have been married for 40 years. They have two children: Tammy and Todd, both living in Greece. They have five grandchildren, which include two sets of twins.

Ken joined the North Greece Fire Department in 1962, following in the footsteps of his brothers Ed and Gene. Ken has served on the Board of Directors, served as Department President for four years and has been on the Board of Fire Commissioners for 23 years prior to his re-election to another 5-year term in 2005. Ken is very active in the Monroe County Fire District Officers Association, serving as treasurer for the past 12 years. He is active in the Association of Fire Districts of New York State, serving as Director of Region 5. He is a member of the Western

New York Fire District Law and Legislative Association and currently serves as its treasurer. As Commissioner, Ken’s goals are to improve district efforts to recruit and retain volunteers by working with State, County and Town officials to develop annual incentives for those who volunteer their services to fire departments and ambulance companies.

He recognizes that the success of the North Greece Fire District depends upon developing leaders withing capable of maintaining harmony with a professional staff of career and volunteer personnel. Ken is also responsible for the fire district budgeting process and is working to provide high quality services and the best value to tax payers.
