SUPERVISOR BILL REILICH AND THE GREECE TOWN BOARD ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NORTH GREECE FIRE DISTRICT

During the meeting of the Greece Town Board on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 authorization to enter into an intermunicipal agreement with the North Greece Fire District whereby the Town will permit the Fire District to use the Town’s diesel fueling facilities and will receive reimbursement for the Fire District’s fuel usage. Further, authorization for the Supervisor to execute any necessary documentation was also approved.

Supervisor Bill Reilich and Greece Town Council Members Mike Barry, Josh Jensen, Bill Murphy and Diana Christodaro are pleased to announce that the motion passed. The North Greece Fire District may now use the Town’s fueling facilities located at the Department of Public Works. The Fire District will be reimbursing the Town for its fuel usage.

The North Greece Fire District serves a large population in the Town of Greece. The District is composed of both career and volunteer firefighters who dedicate their time to providing outstanding fire and EMS services to our community.

“When representatives from the North Greece Fire District approached me with concerns that the School District was no longer in a position to provide diesel fuel for fire apparatus, I immediately began researching how the Town could be of assistance” said Supervisor Reilich. “Last night’s approval of the intermunicipal agreement with the North Greece Fire District is an example of how local government can work more efficiently through shared services. I am pleased that the Town is able to assist in making sure the Fire District’s apparatus remain ready to protect the residents.”

North Greece Fire Chief Sam DeRosa echoed the Supervisor’s comments stating that “Anytime government can share services in the best interest of the community, everyone benefits. North Greece Fire wishes to publicly thank Supervisor Reilich and the Town for their approval of this important project and resource”

The Fire District expects to begin utilizing the Town facility in the next 30 days.
