NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Partial Tax Exemption
Real Property Tax Law Section 466-a

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that there will be a Public Hearing on the proposition of whether or not the North Greece Fire District, Town(s) of Greece and Parma, County of Monroe should adopt a resolution providing for partial exemption from fire district taxes, to the extent of 10% of the assessed value of the property for eligible enrolled members of an incorporated volunteer fire company, fire department or incorporated voluntary ambulance service or such eligible enrolled member and spouse or unmarried widow of a 20 year member residing within the North Greece Fire District, a partial tax exemption from fire district taxes, to the extent of 10% of the assessed value of the property pursuant to Section 466-a of the Real Property Tax Law.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN, to be eligible for such a partial tax exemption, certain other requirements must be met before the town assessor can allow such exemption as are set forth in Section 466-a of the Real Property Tax Law. Certified enrolled members include: those with two (2) or more years of service, those who accrue more than twenty (20) years of active service for the remainder of his/her life as long as his/her primary residence is located within the District, deceased enrolled member’s un-remarried spouse who are killed in the line of duty whose spouse had been an enrolled member for at least five years and such deceased volunteer had been receiving the exemption prior to his/her death, deceased enrolled member’s un-remarried spouse, such deceased member had been an enrolled member for at least twenty (20) years; and such deceased volunteer and un-remarried spouse had been receiving the exemption for such property prior to the death of such volunteer.
It shall be the responsibility of each eligible enrolled member of an incorporated volunteer fire company, fire department or incorporated volunteer ambulance service seeking such exemption to file any required application for such exemption with the Assessor before the taxable status date as may be required by the Assessor.
This partial tax exemption shall apply to assessment rolls prepared on the basis of taxable status dates occurring on or after January 1, 2025.

Said Public Hearing will be held on February 13, at 5:55 p.m. at the North Greece Fire Station #2 located at 1766 Latta Road, NY 14612, at which time all persons interested in the subject matter thereof will be heard concerning the same.
