The North Greece Board of Fire Commissioners announces the hiring of Sam DeRosa as their Fire Chief to lead the District’s Administration and Operations.
DeRosa most recently served as Monroe County’s appointee as the Interim Director of Monroe County Office of Emergency Management. He also served as the Monroe County Fire Coordinator, a position he held since 2008.
“I’m thrilled and honored that Sam chose to join our Fire District family,” said Linda Andreano, who serves as the Board Chairwoman of Fire Commissioners. “Sam is a consummate professional with both the mastery and the passion needed to lead this critical organization. Our residents should feel safe knowing that Sam is at the helm of our very large Fire District.”
Commissioner Alan DeCarlo stated, “I’ve known Sam for over 20 years in the fire service. His integrity, broad scope of experience, and professionalism are everything we hoped to find when we searched for our next Fire Chief.”
The position of a career Fire Chief is new to the District, and does not replace any current personnel. The Commissioners confirm that Chief DeRosa will begin his new role by mid-December.

Most of you already know Sam. You know him to already have the mastery to do this job. You know him to be a Fire Service professional of many years with a reputation of the highest integrity and passion for the service. You know him as a consummate professional with an already proven record of effective and recognized leadership. Sam brings to our table even more than we hoped we could find in a single candidate. We are confident that every aspect of our organization will immediately feel the benefits of Sam’s vision and methodology.
For Sam, we also recognize that leaving the County at this time was an incredibly difficult decision, and one that he did not originally seek. Having just been offered a great opportunity to lead the OEM, it’s even more meaningful that Sam wanted to come and be part of our family.
